Benefits of Praise

In Psalm 68:4 it says, “Sing to God! Sing praises to His name. Exalt Him who rides on the clouds— His name is Yahweh—and rejoice before Him.” Basically the psalmist tells us in that verse to get our praise on.

But he spends the rest of the chapter telling you why we should get our praise on. He lists all the circumstances that praise can overcome. Read the rest of the chapter. He says if you don’t have a father, God is the father to the fatherless. He says if you are lonely, He can make a home for the lonely. He says if you are locked up, He says He leads out the prisoners into prosperity. He says if you need a change of weather, like Elijah did, it is He that drops the rain in the presence of God. In fact, He says there will be plenty of rain.

If you are poor and you need financial help, He provides goodness for the poor. If you have enemies, kings of armies flee when you praise.

If you are burdened down, you can read in verse 19 that blessed be the Lord who daily bears our burdens. If you need deliverance, verse 20 says it is God who delivers us. It is God who helps us escape.

So where does he end up? Right where he started in verse 24 where he says get the processional on. March into the sanctuary. Bless God in the congregation because our God has commanded your strength. Show thyself strong O God who has acted on our behalf.

What the psalmist is saying is God can cover any circumstance in His presence and in the midst of praise and worship.

For His Kingdom,
