Sometimes difficult situations come up in my life, and all I have is God’s Word. The fact of the matter is that God let this circumstance pass through His hands. Don’t you think, then, that the Lord has a plan and He wants us to rest in Him? We can learn to enter His rest by remembering who He is and what He has done for us, taking a look at His track record. In the busyness of our lives, we need to make adjustments to remember the goodness of the Lord. We witness this repeatedly in the Scriptures. We have to get back to the Word because when all else fails, you belong to Him. Jesus never fails. He is the same yesterday, today, and He will be the same forever.
As a child growing up with seven siblings, even with a lack of conveniences, lack of money, and lack of support, I remember my mother and grandmother telling me about the goodness of God. We lived on Dad’s income alone, and there were stretching times. But I also remember rich sessions around my mother’s knees as she taught us the Word in our devotions every day.
After my grandfather died, I remember my grandmother carrying on with dignity and grace, living with limited resources; but always love, stories, and food abounded. This is God’s specialty: He can take just what you have and make it much more. They had confidence that He could provide over and over again. Could it be that because we already have so much, we have difficulty finding time to focus on what is ultimately important? Are we focusing more on the benefits than on the benefit Giver? He wants us to remember in the good times and the bad times that He is good.

“Thank you for your Joseph series. The Detours to Destiny changed my life.”
“Good morning Dr. Evans. I read your article on your website this morning. You know just when and how to reach me. It's as if you are a part of me and you know what I am going through at that exact moment. I needed those words of encouragement today. Thank you and God bless.”
“Pastor Tony Evans, God spoke life into me through you many years ago. I listened to your radio broadcast from my little FL home every day. I had throat cancer. You made this statement: 'If God takes you down and raises you back up, He will use you.' I knew this was for me. It has been 17 years now that God took our business, my health, tore the foundation down and rebuilt it on HIM alone. I have had a TV/radio show called 'Jesus Talk Life' for 15 years, teach SS, and speak at conferences, etc. Just like you said, HE took me down, showed me who Jesus was (like Job), and brought me back up as an eyewitness. I no longer just hear Him but see Him. He uses me! Thank you, man of God!”
