When facing life's problems, have you ever searched for an escape hatch? Whether a financial setback, a health challenge, a relational breakup or simply discouragement, one of the most natural things is to seek a way out. It's our fight or flight response.
Rather than run away from your problems, it is always wiser to pursue God. Your comeback is found in Him alone. The Bible gives you three ways to do this.
FIRST, submit to God's authority in your life. This means saying to Him day by day, "Not my will, but Your will be done. I subject my desires to Your desires, my dreams to Your dreams, my purposes and plans to Your purposes and plans."
SECOND, resist the devil's attempts to influence you. The devil cannot overcome us by power; he has to attack us with deception and temptation. Satan can make you want to sin, but if you are a believer, Satan cannot make you sin. He simply makes sin look attractive and easy to commit.
THIRD, draw closer to God. The closer you are to God, the more that bully, the devil, will leave you alone. That's why the Word of God tells us, "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you" (James 4:8).
Are you looking for your own comeback? As you face setbacks, make it your goal to pursue a deeper, more intimate relationship with God right where you are.
Why We Do What We Do
"My story starts seven years ago. I had a tragic fall that shattered my spine. After a 9-hour surgery, rods, screws and plates replaced what was formerly my spine. For at least two years of recovery, I begged my husband on an hourly basis to either kill me or leave me. I loved him so much, but this was no life for him. He needed a wife, not a broken shell of a person. However, his unrelenting patience and prayer started to give me strength. I turned off the TV and opened my Bible. I spent the next year giving it all to God. Jesus was my constant companion, and I started physical therapy. Although still in pain, I started to regain mobility.
During this time, I started listening to you on the radio. As a result, great blessings started happening in my life. I was able to return to full-time work. I was able to get off all pain medications, and my marriage was cemented. No man should have endured what I put him through during my recovery. He stuck it out, lifted me up and helped me find my way back to the Lord."
