Dear Friend,
One day, a butterfly was fluttering in great fright because it was being pursued by a sparrow. The sparrow kept pecking at the butterfly, eager to devour it. But the butterfly was on the inside of a window, the glass separating it from the sparrow.
The sparrow kept pecking, trying to get at the butterfly. And the butterfly kept fluttering around in terror at the presence of the sparrow. The butterfly couldn’t understand that the pane of glass between him and the sparrow kept the sparrow from doing what it wanted to do.
What scared the butterfly was that the sparrow was so close—right in his face. The butterfly could have been confident if he understood that the pane of glass was all he needed for protection, no matter how close the sparrow seemed to be.
Tomorrow morning, Satan is going to be in your face again. He’s going to be trying to devour you, to ruin your testimony and capture your marriage or virtue. But remember that Jesus Christ has slid a pane of glass in between you and Satan. This glass is red—stained with His blood.
Satan can peck at you, and he may seem close, but he can’t touch you without God’s permission, because you are protected by the blood of Jesus Christ. You don’t have to be afraid anymore.
And one day, according to Revelation 20:1-3, you won’t have to worry about Satan anymore.
Because on that day, God will send down an angel with a chain to wrap around Satan. And he who deceived the nations will be thrown into the abyss for one thousand years.
Jesus Christ will order an angel, perhaps Michael or Gabriel, to tie Satan up. And then, like a conquering Roman general, Jesus will put the devil on display, parading him through the streets on the way to the abyss.
So when you get up tomorrow, get up in the authority of Jesus Christ. Overcome Satan by the blood of Christ, because He has purchased that authority for you. Live under Christ’s authority, and you get Christ’s authority.
Then, you can fight from a position of victory instead of fighting for victory. Jesus has already won the victory for you by His person, His payment and His position. Tell Him you want His authority, then live in it.
For His Kingdom,
Why We Do What We Do
"Dear Dr. Tony Evans,
I want to thank God for your heart and willingness to serve him. Today, I listened to your message, God Meets Your Emotional Needs, about being in the valley. Earlier in the morning, I prayed to have God speak to me through His Word, and when I heard your message today, it was exactly what I needed to hear. Sir, I look forward to hearing your message tomorrow."
