As the deer pants for the water brooks, so my soul pants for You, O God. – Psalm 42:1
Emotions are to the soul what the senses are to the body. They reveal the way we feel about life’s circumstances. People who are in emotional strongholds usually know it. They struggle to survive and may feel helpless, hopeless, and worthless.
An emotional stronghold doesn’t mean that you have a bad day every once in a while. It means that you can’t shake the negative entrapment that has grasped your life. If this comes close to describing even a portion of your life, here is the news that you have been waiting to hear: Even though you cannot shake it off yourself, Jesus can set you free.
God hasn’t called us to wake up in the morning feeling depressed and defeated. He wants us to get up each day knowing that He is the one who is in control of all things and that He is watching over our entire lives.
If you feel emotionally trapped by any feeling or disbelief, don’t wait another minute. Turn to the Lord in prayer. Ask Him to reveal the struggle you’re facing. He has a plan for your life, and it’s a plan of “welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11).
