The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. – Psalm 23:1

God is your Provider. Whatever your needs may be, He has promised to take care of you. In Psalm 23, David thinks back over the many times he needed God’s help and the Lord provided for him. There were moments—especially when he was on the run from King Saul—when he was hungry, alone, and in fear of losing his life. Yet he never wavered in his faith.

If you’re facing a time of loneliness, you can turn to the Lord, knowing that He is your closest Friend. If there is a financial or physical need, He will provide the resources you need to get through the crisis. Thankfully, David learned these truths as a young man. As he grew older and life took on many twists and turns, he did not falter in his faith.

You may be waiting for a check to arrive in the mail or for an increase in your wages. Perhaps a relationship has been strained, and you’ve longed for it to be restored. Regardless of what the need is, God is aware of it, and He wants you to pray for His help and wisdom.

Maybe you’ve waited a long time for His answer, and you wonder if He has forgotten you. The answer is no. He may require you to wait for His provision in order to test your faith. However, when provision is needed, God will send it. He is never late. He always is perfectly on time.

Your responsibility is to trust Him. As you give back to Him, through your time, heart, and treasures, God is bound by His promise to meet the needs in your life. Because David understood this principle, he could write, “My cup overflows. Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life” (Psalm 23:5-6). The same principle holds true for you. Rest in that truth.
