The Lord was my stay. He brought me forth also into a broad place. – Psalm 18:18-19

If you have taken your children to Disney World, more than likely you have ridden a ride called It’s a Small World. Childlike figures are dressed in costumes portraying different cultures from around the world, moving as they singing: “It’s a small world after all, it’s a small world after all, it’s a small world after all, it’s a small, small world!”

The first time my family rode this ride, I thought it was cute. The second time, it was tolerable. The third time, it put me on edge. The fourth time, I wanted to jump out of the boat and swim to shore. A small world song being sung by all those small people got on my not-so-small nerves.

At times, life can seem small, especially when we’ve been in a valley for a very long time and can’t seem to break free of our circumstances.

Perhaps you feel as though something should be unfolding for you by now, but it hasn’t. Instead, the walls of life appear to be closing in even tighter, and you wonder if God will ever allow you to step out into a spacious place of true joy, freedom, and contentment. The answer is yes, but you have to be willing to wait for His timing and provision.

Many people focus on what they lack and overlook what God already has provided for them. This only leads to more doubts and disappointments. They fail to realize that Jesus Christ is the only one who can meet all our needs. He is the one who created us, and He knows our innermost desires, hopes, and dreams.
