Trusting God in the Dark | Tony Evans

It’s been a challenging year. A global pandemic, racial unrest and misunderstanding, harsh political rhetoric, and a lot of division. Hurricanes, flooding, and fires. And on top of all that, each of us has our own personal struggles to deal with. At times it may feel overwhelming. But you can be confident that God is still in charge and still in control. He loves us and He is there for us in the midst of every challenge we face.

But you can be confident that God is still in charge and still in control.

Because I believe in the sovereignty of God, my faith affirms that He allowed these struggles to get our spiritual attention. When God allows a divine disruption, that means it is time for a divine reset.

When our lives feel out of control, it can be a wake-up call—a reminder that even when it may not seem like it, God is in control. And He is trying to get our attention. He is not interested in a pledge of allegiance to a nation; He is interested in a pledge of allegiance to Him. He uses even the most negative events for His purposes.

He uses even the most negative events for His purposes.

Sometimes we can’t understand or make sense of what is going on. Sometimes everything seems unfair. Sometimes even if you pray without ceasing, it can seem as if heaven remains silent. Sometimes everything seems dark.

In times like these, we have to learn we can trust God—even in the dark.
