He sends forth springs in the valleys; they flow between the mountains; they give drink to every beast of the field. – Psalm 104:10-11
Today’s Scripture reminds us of Matthew 6:26: “Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?” Many people waste time rushing here and there because they don’t have an eternal perspective. Their minds are landlocked; they haven’t discovered who they are in Christ. They may have a plan in mind for their lives, but they lack purpose, which makes all the difference in the world.
When life becomes emotionally difficult and stormy, God wants to be the One we turn to for help. He is the only Person who has the ability to provide for our needs. However, many times, instead of seeking Him in prayer, we push past Him and hurry off to do what we think is best.
One of God’s greatest desires is to meet our needs—physically, emotionally, and mentally. When Lazarus died, Jesus was totally aware of the situation. He understood the hurt and disappointment that Mary and Martha were facing (John 11). After all, Lazarus was His friend.
However, the Savior waited until the appropriate time to go to the family because God had a greater plan in mind. Jesus had healed many people, but Lazarus was the first person He called out of the grave. This miracle foreshadowed His death and resurrection and provided a window into the infinite power and faithfulness of God.
The Lord may choose to answer your prayers in a way that’s totally different from what you had expected. Always be willing to wait for Him, knowing that something even greater is about to unfold. If He feeds the birds of the air, He will take care of you.
