Woman to Woman

The Bible talks about moving mountains. We learn from the words of Jesus that in order to overcome some of life’s greatest challenges and struggles, we merely need faith in God. But I want to talk to you briefly about another kind of mountain. This mountain represents the challenge of changing the world through the Great Commission.

Go into all the world, make disciples and preach the gospel—as both Matthew and Mark record for us in their accounts.

That’s a tall order for anybody, yet unmistakably something to which we are all called. This is not a mountain to cast into the sea; this is a mountain to climb!

One of the first things you will realize when you set out to climb a mountain is that it’s hard. You’re not as strong as you think you are, and it ends up being much taller than you think it is. In our hearts, we want to share the good news of Jesus, feed the hungry, heal the sick and defeat sin in a single bound, but soon, reality sets in. The Great Commission becomes that item on the “To Do” list, right under remembering to take the kids to music lessons and read your Bible before you go to bed.

I want you to remember, if God has called you to do something, He will also give you the strength to do it, the words to speak it, and the time to accomplish it. The only part required of us is a willingness to be used by His Spirit for the purpose of reaching out to the lost and the hurt. So, when the mountain seems too tall to scale, remember that the Lord’s provision begins where your strength ends.
