It seems like we have so much to worry about today. We worry about our money. We worry about our health. We worry about our relationships, jobs and the state of our nation. If there’s one thing all my years in ministry have taught me, there’s no shortage of things to worry about.
Some of us even pay people to worry about our worries. Some hire accountants and lawyers. Others hire psychiatrists and life coaches. Some of us, if we could, would gladly pay somebody to lift our burdens from our shoulders.
Let me take this moment to bring you some great news:
You have nothing to worry about.
I don’t care what your worry is nor do I know what’s provoking it. I only know one thing; it’s time to reverse course by moving away from anxiety and moving toward the truth of God’s Word. In Matthew 6:25, Jesus teaches His disciples, “For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or drink; nor for your body as to what you will put on.” Certainly, this list isn’t complete. Jesus wants to connect an abundance of worry with a lack of faith (verse 30).
In other words, if we focus on increasing our faith, we can watch our worries melt away. We do that by keeping our mind on God and off of our problems. Isaiah 26:3 reads, “The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, because he trusts in You.” We need to trust God with our problems and keep our mind on the things He has taught us.
That is how we begin to live worry-free. When we find ourselves headed in the direction of anxiety, we need to turn around and start heading back in the direction toward the One who commands us to cast all our cares on Him.
There are many struggles we face in life and knowing how to steer clear of them isn’t easy. I have prepared a 12-part teaching series called U-Turn: Reversing Your Consequences, in which I will show you what the Bible says about how to recognize when you are headed in the wrong direction and how to get back on the road to a right relationship with God.
With your gift of any amount to this ministry, I will send you both volumes 1 and 2 of this series. I want you to be able to turn your life around and start living free from the anxiety of struggle and strife.
For His kingdom,
P.S. It’s worth saying again: you have nothing to worry about. God will see you through every dark storm, if you’ll just put yourself back on a path toward Him.
Why We Do What We Do
"I recently lost my home in the California wildfires. Some say I lost everything, but I wouldn’t trade the experience of awe and wonder of God’s power at work before my very eyes for anything! The fire was a gift. Because of it, two firefighters God placed in my life gave their lives to Jesus that night."
