Woman to Woman

Did you know that sometimes God actually desires to lead us into dangerous situations? That can be a challenge to accept, since we use our common sense and self-preservation to avoid danger. But as Christians who seek to be led by God according to His will, sometimes that means letting go of what we see with our earthly eyes and placing our faith in His plan for our lives. To help us let go, occasionally the Lord will send us a Mordecai.

Esther had solid, sensible reasons for not going in to see the king. According to the laws and customs of the time, it was not the thing to do. It was risky. It was asking for trouble.

God is the ruler of everything.

But God is the ruler of everything, and when He commissions us to accomplish a particular task, His timing and our obedience are the only things that matter. God was in touch with Mordecai, and Mordecai was in touch with Esther. So, when Mordecai gave Esther counsel, she found the confidence and commitment she needed to accomplish the mission.

We all get weak and confused at times, and we need Mordecais in our lives. Mentoring others and receiving the mentoring of others is an essential Christian practice. Through the godly men and women that God places in our lives, we can better discern where the Lord is leading us and have the confidence to face the danger ahead.

Why We Do What We Do

"I recently lost my home in the California wildfires. Some say I lost everything, but I wouldn’t trade the experience of awe and wonder of God’s power at work before my very eyes for anything! The fire was a gift. Because of it, two firefighters God placed in my life gave their lives to Jesus that night."
