As a Christian woman and wife, I draw a great deal of encouragement and strength from the example of my mother. She had a lot of struggles to overcome as she reared eight children while putting a lot of her dreams and goals on hold. She submitted to God's will for her life, following Jesus’ example of what submission looks like. Philippians 2:5-11 tells us that Jesus was and is God Himself, equal in essence with the Father. But to accomplish our salvation, Jesus voluntarily laid aside the independent use of His deity and placed Himself under the authority of His Father.
Jesus joyfully submitted to the Father's will, even though it meant going to the cross and suffering the most humiliating and painful kind of death.
When I think of our Lord hanging on the cross for our sins, I realize that the submission He asks of me is not only possible for me to do but can be done with joy. Additionally, we are all called to submit, and in marriage, it is not just a one-sided requirement for me only. As the leader in our home, Tony is also called to submit to Christ (see 1 Corinthians. 11:3).
When it comes to submission, I have the examples of Jesus Himself and of my mother. Jesus is not asking me to do anything He did not do or that I have not seen modeled (see John 6:38).
Why We Do What We Do
"Recently, I was able to attend your church and purchased the book, Kingdom Man. Since that time, things have gotten so much better in my life. Your ministry has blessed my whole family. My children love the Lord dearly, and all of them are active in school, sports and church. For a man who spent five years in prison, the Lord has done great things in my life. I cannot thank you enough." —Stan
