A Note from Tony

Dear Friend,

I had to fly to Memphis once to speak briefly at a meeting, and the plane was delayed. I got a little nervous because when I got to Memphis, I still had to drive an hour away to Jackson, Tennessee. I wasn’t dressed for the engagement. I had my clothes in a hanging bag to change into after the drive. I thought I’d have time to go to the hotel room before I spoke. An hour later, we still hadn’t boarded. An hour and a half later, we still hadn’t boarded. We stayed on the runway for another 30 minutes before we took off.

When we finally arrived in Memphis, a man was there to pick me up. I told him that I was worried that we wouldn’t have enough time to get to the meeting. He told me not to worry. They would wait. I told him that I was concerned that I wouldn’t have enough time to change into appropriate attire. He told me not to worry. He told me that he’d take me to his father’s house and I could change there. After driving for an hour, he exited the highway and took me to his father’s house to change. I was rushing to change because I hate being late.

My escort told me to take my time. He told me that the people would wait.

I was all sweaty and frustrated and irritated trying to rush and get ready. Dressed and ready to head out, I looked at the clock. We were indeed late for the engagement. The man saw me look at my watch and reminded me yet again not to worry and that the people would wait. A few moments later, I walked into this glorious grand ballroom filled with thousands of people. I came in and they stood up to applaud. Not only did they wait, but they celebrated my arrival.

Friend, you may have been waiting at the airport a long time for whatever is the desire of your heart. But don’t worry, it’ll come. One day you will get to your intended destination, and when you do, what a glorious time it will be. Don’t worry – don’t rush. Don’t even try to force things. It will happen – so keep your head up and your expectations high. To help you along this path, we are offering the special sermon series Great Expectations for your gift to the ministry this month. Thank you for your gift, as we depend on faithful friends of the ministry to take the Word of God to a world in need.

Here’s to waiting well.

“My wife recently bought me your book, Kingdom Man, while buying Kingdom Woman for herself. I've found this book very fascinating and can't put it down! I look forward to sharing what I've read with others in our church, even to the point of starting a small group for men in our church and elsewhere based on the six-session Bible study. Great read!”
