Make Your Comeback

Heather Dorniden was a standout runner for the University of Minnesota, favorited to take the conference 600-meter title. As expected, she took an early lead, but partway into the race, Heather’s feet tangled with another runner’s and she sprawled headfirst onto the track and skidded leaving marks across her stomach. Surely no one thought she could win the race.

But Heather didn’t stay down. She got back on her feet, now trailing a good 30 meters. Determined to finish her race, Heather started to run. Midway down the backstretch, she passed the first of the three runners in front of her. Cheers grew thunderous, urging her to do the impossible. Rounding the back corner on the final stretch, Heather hit a gear even she didn’t know she had, propelling her past another runner. With only one more to catch and a final lunge near the finish, Heather reclaimed the lead.

Comebacks are God's specialty. They give us hope, and hope makes our hearts beat strong.

Comebacks like Heather’s inspire us. They make us believe that no matter what our situation, it can turn around. But we aren’t the only ones who love a good comeback. God is the master of such stories. He authored the comeback of comebacks—the Savior who was crucified, got up from the grave, ascended to heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.

Why We Do What We Do

"Dr. Evans,
You sure do hit the spot! Me and my wife try to listen on the weekends but even if not, we can catch it on the website. Very blessed!

You know, our two girls are married and sure have been having a hard time. One husband is a soldier and is always gone, and she stays at home with four kids. The other has been separated for over a year. But we believe God works miracles, and we pray for them all the time, since they live so far away and we can’t do much else.

Anyway, we got a phone call from our youngest, and she and her husband have decided to reconcile and are meeting with a minister for counseling. On the SAME day, our other daughter calls us and tells us that she has found a wonderful, godly group of women to offer support and help while her husband is in Afghanistan for another four months. PRAISE THE LORD!

God takes care of us in so many ways. We just wanted to let you know about answered prayer.
