What is your River Jordan? What keeps you from crossing over? Sometimes it is blame—blaming everyone else for not taking that first step; blaming your parents for their dysfunction or total absence; blaming a boss or a husband who doesn’t lead; or anyone who might absorb the blame and the accompanying shame so that you can continue to make excuses and stay on the wrong side of the river. Blaming your absentee father or your broken or unavailable mother, or blaming your husband or your lack of a husband, or your children or lack of children, or your employment or unemployment, or the hardships you’ve experienced on this side of the Jordan. If we choose to blame, we forfeit the game.
And the Enemy wins. This Enemy does not want you to cross over. He wants you to stand, wistfully, on the desert side of the Jordan. He wants blame to incapacitate you, to decapitate you, to keep you from looking to our true Head, Jesus, and setting forth in the waters of the River Jordan. Our parents’ name for us, their raising of us, changes nothing about the truth—that God gloried in us from before our conception (“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you” [ Jeremiah 1:5]) and glories in us now. Remembering, knowing that kind of love, changes our lives. It enables us to impact others with the same kind of loving attention and compassion that Jochebed demonstrated. It is time to let go. And step into the Jordan River.

“Thank you for the book, One Nation Under God. The men at our church and I really enjoyed Kingdom Man as well. I can't wait to do the program again. Thank you, Pastor.”
“Thank you, Tony, for helping me to forgive. I thought I had forgiven until you said, 'You haven't forgiven if you are still seeking revenge...' You gave me an important tool. When you said, 'Forgiveness does not necessarily equal reconciliation,' that took away any fear I had of forgiving. Today I'm confident and free to move on in peace. Thank you!!!!!!”
“Good morning, Dr. Tony Evans. I really enjoy your teaching. I hear you on Faith Radio and Trinity Broadcasting. Keep up the good work.”
