Dear Friend,

First of all, let me say thank you again for your prayers and generous support of the ministry of The Urban Alternative. God is truly blessing His Word as it is disseminated through all the various channels at our disposal. You are helping to make that happen, and please know that lives are being transformed!

This past month was an incredible time for our family. As many of you know, our daughter Priscilla Shirer stars in the new movie War Room. We couldn’t be more proud to see how God has developed her over the years - not only as a wife, mother, Bible teacher, and writer, but also now as an actress. I’ll never forget the days Lois and I got to spend on the set of War Room, watching the film unfold. A lot goes on in getting a scene just right. I was especially impressed by Priscilla’s focus and patience, as she had to do some scenes several times in order to get the right take.

I’ll also never forget watching the movie with my family for the first time, as we gathered together in a hotel suite in Nashville. Lois and I and all of our kids - along with the filmmakers, the Kendrick brothers - watched what they called a “rough cut” of the movie, and I was touched even then by the power of both the message and the story. About a month later, I had the honor of showing a prescreening version to our church congregation, and the response was overwhelming! There was hardly a dry eye in the room by the time it was over.

I’m excited that this nationwide release will challenge marriages and families to use all the resources available to them to stay together and overcome whatever obstacles appear to be in their way. As a dad, I am proud of my daughter Priscilla and the great job she has done. I also pray that God will use this film to help heal marriages that are so desperately in need of His intervention today.
