God reminded me recently how our communication with Him can be compared to a conversation we have on a cell phone. As we drive into different valleys or locations that are far away from the tower, we lose our connection. At first, we hear a sound like static on the line. Too much static makes it difficult, or even impossible, to hear what’s being said. Then, eventually, the call gets dropped altogether. It’s not that the relationship has ended—or that the person isn’t there—it’s just that we are no longer able to hear from them.
Life can easily give us too much static on our spiritual line. God is talking, but we can’t hear Him through the noise of the duties, valleys and distance that make up the hours in our day. Yet the wonderful thing about God is that He is still there. He hasn’t moved. If we will simply clear the channel and call on Him again, we will hear Him say:
I will protect you (2 Thessalonians 3:3).
I will comfort you (Isaiah 66:13).
I will give you peace (Leviticus 26:6).
I will listen (Jeremiah 29:12).
I will carry you (Isaiah 46:4).
I will strengthen you (Isaiah 41:10).
I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28).
I will be with you (Matthew 28:20).
I want to encourage you to move yourself away from the distractions that put static on the line, and position yourself in the stillness of His presence. In every season of a woman’s life, God’s presence is critical to living out that season to the fullest. Give Him a call. Jeremiah 33:3 promises that when you do, He will answer, “Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.”
Why We Do What We Do
"God bless you abundantly Pastor Evans! This sermon came my way right on target. I live in Florida (Broward County) where we were supposed to have a 6 to 9 ft water surge. In other words, it was supposed to be a deadly catastrophe. I prayed, and in my spirit the Lord gave me peace before, during and after the hurricane happened. He is faithful and true. I can see how the Lord continues to be faithful and true with your ministry, pastor. Thank you so much."
