Question: Why do you consider Galatians 2:20 to be your “life verse”?

Answer: This verse is critical because it speaks about identity, and the whole purpose of the Christian life is to be fully identified as a visible and verbal follower of Christ. That means you are constantly being reminded that you must die to any identity that is independent of Christ. It is a great encouragement because it speaks of my relationship with “the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”

Question: Jesus told us to pray to “Our Father in heaven.” What would you say to a person who struggles with relating to God as Father?

Answer: A broken relationship or lack of relationship with an earthly father can affect a person’s understanding of the heavenly Father. I urge those who’ve had such experiences not to let a poor earthly father define the heavenly Father. Instead, look to men who are an ongoing illustration of what a father should be. If possible, be mentored by them.

Question: In Ephesians 1:10, Paul states that God’s plan is “to bring everything together in Christ.” Why is this the goal of the outworking of God’s plan for this world, and why should it be good news for us?

Answer: Ephesians 1:10 is Paul’s philosophy of history. God intends for all things to culminate in the rule of Jesus Christ. Why is that important? It means God is going to fulfill His kingdom purpose for men and women. Regardless of what you see happening in the world, God’s program is still in place. Jesus has won the victory, and He will rule.
