Question: You have identified Galatians 2:20 as your life verse. Why has it been so critical in your walk of discipleship?

Answer: It is critical because it speaks about identity, and the whole purpose of the Christian life is to be fully identified as a visible and verbal follower of Christ. That means you are constantly being reminded that you must die to any identity that is independent of Christ.

Question: What are the practical implications of this verse?

Answer: This verse is a great reminder of who I am in Christ and my need to die to myself. It also provides great encouragement because it speaks of my relationship with “the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” Jesus paid an amazing price to switch our identity and have a relationship with us, as He expresses His life in and through us.

Question: What is the significance of our identity in Christ?

Answer: My identity in Christ is the most important thing about me. Everything else is secondary. When I place race, gender, occupation, hobbies, or anything else above my identity in Christ, I forget God’s amazing grace. I forget that the Son of God died for me so that I can be reconciled to God and to others. The cross is not merely a historical event; it affects every area of our lives.
