You Can Make a Difference in Society

I recall a time when I had some serious ant hills on my front lawn. As these ants served their queen, they built mounds on my lawn, turning a once-green lawn into a place of foreign habitation. They were building their own kingdom on my lawn, so I needed to address their presence. If I didn’t address it swiftly, they would continue to bring destruction.

What we have today in our nation is the presence of destructive ideologies. We have secularism, humanism and all forms of idolatry that have invaded our culture and our world. Yet what we need to keep in mind is that God has not called His people to sit on the sidelines of this battle. He has called each of us to step up and get into the game. Now, this goes beyond a certain candidate, or even a group of candidates or political party. This has to do with the role of Christians functioning as kingdom disciples in the culture.

Kingdom politics involves so much more than voting. It is a way of life. God is calling you to kingdom living and influence.

I love the way Philippians 3:20 declares that “our citizenship is in heaven.” We must understand this key truth in order to understand how to live as kingdom citizens in a culture gone astray. Living out the principles of kingdom politics is rooted in the recognition of where our true allegiance and citizenship reside. You and I are kingdom citizens.
