The apostle Paul always began his letters with words like these: “Paul, a bond-servant of Christ Jesus” or “Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus,” (Romans 1:1; 1 Timothy 1:1). There is no doubt that Paul knew who he was. He was an apostle of Jesus Christ—a man who had been called by God to do a certain task. And he never hesitated to tell others to whom he belonged.
Paul didn’t have an identity crisis. He knew who He was. Often we falter in our faith, get turned in the wrong direction, or become confused in our decisions, we’ve forgotten who we are. Maybe in some cases, we never really knew.
Do you know? Just in case you are wondering, here is the answer. As a believer, you belong to the King of kings, the Lord of lords. You are a child of the Most High God, and you are the apple of His eye. He has a purpose and plan for your life. From His perspective, nothing has greater value—outside of His Son—than you do. Even though He is totally involved in the matters of the world, you are the focus of His attention. He never gives up on you, never stops loving you, and always has the best in mind for you.
When you have suffered hurt of any kind, He is there to lift your heart by offering words of encouragement and hope. If you receive good news, He wants to be the first to celebrate its coming with you. Nothing you do goes unnoticed by God.
