Know God’s Written Word

The devil took Him into the holy city and had Him stand on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down; for it is written, ‘He will command His angels concerning You’; and ‘On their hands they will bear You up, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’” Jesus said to him, “On the other hand, it is written, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’” – Matthew 4:5-7

We can be certain that Satan knows the Bible. He knows what it says, and he also knows how to twist it into half-truths to serve his purposes. Satan can easily pull a word from God out of context—just as he did with Eve.

The Bible is your sword. An unpracticed swordsman will fall victim every time to someone who wields the sword more effectively. Learn how to wield your sword when the enemy takes Scripture out of context and uses it against you. Fill your heart with God’s promises and take Him at His Word.
