Seeing the Secret

Seeing the Secret

Kings will be your guardians, and their princesses your nurses. They will bow down to you with their faces to the earth and lick the dust of your feet; and you will know that I am the Lord; those who hopefully wait for Me will not be put to shame. – Isaiah 49:23

Today I want to talk to the ladies about a word that has gotten a bad reputation: submission. Submission isn’t a popular topic, but I want to share with you a secret that can help you see it in a different light.

The secret of submission lies in who you are submitting to. Ultimately, when a wife submits to her husband, she is submitting to God because He is the One who has designed marriage according to these guidelines. God honors those who honor Him. So the secret of submission is in trusting God.

A wife’s trust must be in the Lord. It’s one thing to trust a man when things are fine and he’s fulfilling his roles as leader and lover. But it’s another story altogether when he’s not. That’s why your trust must always be placed in God. Your eyes must be focused on the Lord, not on your husband. When you look to God in faith, you will see things that others do not see. You will see with spiritual eyes.

People aren’t spiritual because they read their Bible, pray, or go to church. Spiritual people are those who see things spiritually. You may look at your husband and say, “Submission to him doesn’t make sense.” But when you see things through the eyes of faith, life takes on a whole new dimension. Remember, if all you see is what you see, you will never see all there is to see. Keep your eyes on Jesus because He is the One who will reward your act of faith.
