Strong Foundations

Strong Foundations

No house will stand for long unless it has a strong foundation. It’s the same with our lives. We need a strong foundation. As Isaiah wrote:

“Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a tested stone, a costly cornerstone for the foundation, firmly placed. He who believes in it will not be disturbed” (Isaiah 28:16).

Today we can see a lot of cracks all around us.

Everyone knows how important it is for a building to have a stable foundation. If you wind up with cracks in your walls, it is usually due to a faulty or shifting foundation. Today we can see a lot of cracks all around us. Cracks in our families. Cracks with our kids. There are cracks in our economics, our relationships, our politics and our careers. There are also racial cracks and class cracks. And, of course, religious cracks. Cracks have broken out everywhere around us and among us. As a result, we spend a great amount of our time, money and energy trying to patch up the cracks so we can make things look better. For a while they do look better. But these temporary fixes don’t address the root problems. Before long, we discover that it takes very little for these cracks to reappear.

And any structure that rests on a weak foundation will soon have cracks in its walls.

The real problem is that our foundation keeps moving. It has not been solidified. And any structure that rests on a weak foundation will soon have cracks in its walls. Any life resting on a weak foundation, will soon manifest its weakness. My brand-new book, Kingdom Men Rising, will help men learn how to build a solid foundation in kingdom manhood.

A strong spiritual foundation is the key to a successful life. How solid is the foundation upon which you are living your life?

I recall a time when I had some serious ant hills on my front lawn. As these ants served their queen, they built mounds on my lawn, turning a once-green lawn into a place of foreign habitation. They were building their own kingdom on my lawn, so I needed to address their presence. If I didn’t...
