When Will Things Get Better?

When Will Things Get Better?

Have you ever wondered why you are where you are and when things are going to change? That’s a question we all face at some point in our lives. If you haven’t asked it just yet, wait. I have a feeling you might.

God rarely takes us from point A to point B on this pathway called life.

God rarely takes us from point A to point B on this pathway called life. Rather, He typically has us travel a winding road made up of twists and turns, detours and traffic jams. Why? Because unlike our finite ability to see the present and only guess at the future, God is in infinite Being not bound by time. He knows the end from the beginning. He connects the future with the past. Bottom line: He knows the right path to get you exactly where He wants you to be. He does this with His providential hand.

My hope for you as you grow in the Lord is that you will learn to discover the power of God’s providence in the midst of your personal pain, fear, gain, loss and even love. What’s more, I want you to discover the very personal nature of God as He maneuvers each of us along multiple pathways, intersecting what and whom He wishes in His intended aim.

God is the greatest story-teller. He is the Puppet-Master behind the scenes. When you learn how to locate Him in what appears to be His absence, you will learn to trust Him along the dark pathways life often offers. You will also then be perfectly positioned on your own unique pathway of purpose. It is on that path where you will discover in what ways you, too, have been created and placed in your own spectacular story, like the royal Queen Esther. It may be a story of suspense and spiritual warfare, as impactful stories are. But understanding the nature of serving God and what it means to surrender to His will can guide you through.

Spiritual warfare is always a prerequisite to spiritual purpose.

If you are not willing to demonstrate that you are able to deal with the spiritual issues that Satan brings aimed at thwarting God’s agenda, then you are not ready to realize your ultimate spiritual destiny. What God wants to know before He gives you spiritual responsibility is that He can trust you to have the wisdom and self-restraint to use the spiritual weapons of warfare when the going gets tough. He wants to know that the spiritual won’t be thrown aside when the natural troubles show up.

It’s really easy when challenges come your way to start relying on what you know to do in the natural realm. It’s easy to go secular and leave the spiritual at bay when pathways diverge into darkness. Yet it’s only when you have demonstrated a reliance on spiritual weapons for spiritual battles, as Esther did in turning to fasting and prayer for wisdom and intervention, that God is going to release you to fulfill your ultimate purpose.

I recall a time when I had some serious ant hills on my front lawn. As these ants served their queen, they built mounds on my lawn, turning a once-green lawn into a place of foreign habitation. They were building their own kingdom on my lawn, so I needed to address their presence. If I didn’t...
